Welcome to San Patricio County

Aransas Pass - Shrimp Capital

Located on the Texas Gulf Coast with direct access to deep water ports and the Intra-Coastal Waterway, Aransas Pass has a semi-tropical climate. Aransas Pass is located 22 miles northwest of Corpus Christi and 128 miles south of San Antonio.

Aransas Pass is primarily located in San Patricio County. The city has a land area of 10.7 square miles and an elevation of 5 feet above sea level.

The city was named for a pass between Mustang and St. Joseph Islands. It is on the mainland, but is connected to Mustang Island and Port Aransas by the causeway and ferry.

Modern day Aransas Pass is a mecca for water sports, fishing, hunting, bird watching, kayaking and other outdoor activities. The best bay fishing on the Gulf Coast and events such as the Shrimporee, a three day festival, keep tourists and winter Texans coming back to Aransas Pass year after year.
